About Rebecca
Rebecca (Becky) Thomas works with stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief, self-esteem and a wide range of other life and mental health concerns using a person-centred approach. Becky is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and has eight years' experience working in therapeutic settings.
Becky trained as a Person Centred therapist, qualifying in 2021, after completing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2015. She also holds Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society. Her placements during training included work in a GP practice, a maximum security prison with imprisoned women, and a mental health charity in an area of high socioeconomic need.
In sessions she focuses on listening and helping people make sense of their feelings at their own pace. The client-centred way emphasises the person's experience and the therapist's attentive presence rather than directing the process. Becky aims to help people recognise their own strengths and to develop practical skills and strategies as needed.
She has worked with a broad range of issues beyond the core concerns, including relationship and intimacy-related matters, addictions, eating and sleeping difficulties, parenting strains, career questions, ADHD, compassion fatigue and a range of attachment and personality-related topics. She also supports people facing chronic illness, cancer, caregiver stress and ageing concerns.
Sessions use a subscription model that can be cancelled at any time and cost varies with location. To start, clients complete a short matching questionnaire and schedule a first session via the Talk to a counsellor online button.
How person-centred therapy works in online sessions
Person Centred Therapy focuses on the client's experience and on being heard. The therapist listens closely and follows what the client brings to the session rather than imposing a set agenda. This approach is helpful for issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and processing past trauma because it gives people space to reflect and try out new ways of understanding themselves.
In practice Becky aims to work collaboratively to find the right approach. She will discuss goals, preferences and what feels helpful, and then adapt how sessions are used over time. Deciding which methods to focus on is an ongoing conversation between the client and the therapist.
Becky currently offers live chat and text sessions in the afternoons and evenings UK time. If you prefer a different format, confirm the current session options before booking. Online sessions can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy week, reduce travel time and allow shorter check-ins when needed, while still giving space to discuss practical coping strategies and emotional concerns.
Sessions take place through BetterHelp by video, phone or messaging. We will earn a commission if you sign up.
